Who we are and where we sing

Who We Are

Islington Choral Society is a friendly group of choral singers, based in north London. We enjoy exploring different choral works in a fun and supportive environment – and performing them in concerts throughout the year.

We usually put on three concerts a year, at a range of London venues including Sinfonia Smith Square, Cadogan Hall, St Andrew Holborn and LSO St Luke's. Every other year, we go on tour abroad, usually around the first May bank holiday weekend.

We sing a wide variety of choral works. Recent concerts have included Duruflé's Requiem, Karl Jenkins' The Armed Man: A Mass For Peace, Mendelssohn's Elijah, Will Todd's Mass in Blue, Mozart's Mass in C Minor, Rutter's Feel the Spirit, Gilbert and Sullivan’s HMS Pinafore and Vaughan Williams' A Sea Symphony.  You can see our current repertoire on our Events page.

We don’t audition for membership, and welcome enthusiastic singers of all ages (over 18) and voice types. You can find out more about becoming a member on our Join us page.

Our membership fee is £195 a year, which includes the loan of music scores and planned musicianship sessions. We also expect every member to buy at least 2 tickets for each concert, whether they’re performing or not.

There is a concessionary rate of £125 for anyone who is:

  • Under the age of 30

  • A full-time student

  • In receipt of pension credit, universal credit, disability benefit, income support or jobseeker’s allowance.

Proof of eligibility for a concessionary fee may be required.

If you do not qualify for a concessionary fee and the full fee would prevent you from participating, please let us know when you apply to join. We always aim to be sympathetic, where the choir's finances allow.
